For not undressing fast enough for them to
have sex, a 58-year-old lawmaker punched his wife on the face and bloodied her,
leaving the hapless woman with no option than to call the police.
The American lawmaker, Rep. Doug McLeod was
arrested last Saturday at his Lucedale home in Mississippi following a distress
call from his wife. A George County Sheriff’s Department investigative report
obtained by the Sun Herald says
McLeod, 58, was visibly drunk when deputies arrived at the family’s home
Saturday night. They found blood on the bed and bedroom floor.

The deputies also said that on entering the
lawmaker’s house, two women were standing at the top of a stairwell and both
appeared frightened. McLeod’s wife eventually came outside after deputies
assured her they would keep her away from her husband.
One of the deputies said McLeod’s wife was
shaking and upset. She said her husband was drunk and “just snapped,” as he
often does when under the influence of alcohol, the report said.
Another woman present said McLeod’s wife came
running up to her room, her face bloodied. The woman shut the door and locked
it with McLeod’s wife inside.
The other woman said McLeod started banging
on the door and telling the women to open it. He told the other woman if she
didn’t open the door, he’d “kill her (expletive) dog.”
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Mississippi House Speaker Philip
Gunn, said he wants Doug
McLeod to resign if allegations are true that he punched his wife in the face
for not undressing quickly enough when he wanted to have sex.
Gunn in a statement called the alleged
actions of the Republican State Rep. Doug McLeod “unacceptable.”
George County Sheriff Keith Harvard however, told
Sun Herald that investigation is
still open. The Associated Press further reported that McLeod is free on bail
and didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
McLeod has represented George and Stone
counties since 2012. He’s unopposed for reelection this year.
“I have attempted to contact Rep. McLeod to
request his resignation, if in fact, these allegations are true,” Speaker Gunn
said in a statement. “These actions are unacceptable for anyone.”
