Former Inter Milan star Adriano allegedly once cheered himself up after a failed transfer by spending £13,000 on 18 prostitutes.
The 40-year-old saw a move to French outfit Le Havre fall through in 2015 after departing Brazilian outfit Atletico Paranaense the previous year.
The
Ligue 2 side had offered the 48-cap Brazil international a contract at Stade
Oceane, with Adriano agreeing to the deal.
But
the proposed switch collapsed at the last minute after a takeover at Le Havre
went wrong.
And
according to Brazilian publication Extra, the 2004 Copa America winner consoled
himself in the only way he knew how – by visiting a brothel.
They
state that Adriano flew from France back to Rio de Janeiro where he splashed
£13,000 on 18 sex workers.
He
took the group of women to a private party at Motel Vip’s where he spent a
further £8,600 on a binge until the early hours of the morning.
The
four-time Serie A winner is notorious for his off-the-pitch antics.
The
Parma fan favourite was cleared in 2014 of drug trafficking after being accused
four years earlier.
Last
year the burly striker sold his mansion and all its belongings – except his
medals – and moved into a luxury hotel at a cost of £10,000-a-month.
And
just last month, Adriano allegedly refused a breath test after being caught
driving without a licence.
Local
reports claimed a refusal to take a breath test, which is considered a serious
infraction under Brazil’s rules, carries a fine of nearly £500 and a 12-month
ban from driving.
A
police spokesman said of the incident: “Ex-Flamengo player Adriano Leite
Ribeiro was stopped in the early hours of Sunday in an avenue called Avenida
Lucio Costa in Barra da Tijuca and refused to take a breath test.
“When
the documents he was carrying were checked, police discovered his driving
licence had been suspended.
“Adriano’s
vehicle was intercepted and only freed after a motorist who was allowed to
drive it arrived.”
The
former Corinthians centre-forward retired in 2016 following a short stint at
Miami United where he scored once in his only match.
