A Nigerian soldier, Private Akhigbe Tijani,
attached to 27 Taskforce Brigade, has been arrested by the Police in Yobe State
for the rape of a young girl (names withheld.)
According
to report, the soldier raped the girl in the presence of her parents and also
tried forcing the girl’s brother to have sex with her but he refused causing
him to hit the boy on the head with a pestle.
A colleague who was also
on duty with the soldier, however, reported him which prompted the arrest and
dismissal of Private Akhigbe. Police investigation reveal that the suspect was
part of a cordon-and-search operation of the Nigerian Army when he committed
the crime.
